She has a sensational entry into TV industry at the tender age of 13 years, portraying a powerful women character Jhansi Ki Rani, she proved to be a performer. She has her début in girl next door avatar in a teenage love story called ‘Andhra Pori’ in Tollywood. Now she is once again going to enthral audience in warrior princess role as the Junior version of Rudhramadevi. Let’s say hello to this gifted artist and aspiring heroine Ulka Gupta.
You have played the role of Jhansi Lakshmibai and now Rudhramadevi? How does you feel portraying jr version of such powerful characters?
I consider myself very lucky portraying the junior version of both the powerful Women warriors of the nation, Jhansi Laxmi bhai and Rudhramadevi. I was so passionate about these roles and when I was approached for Jhansi Laxmibai, I was just 13. I was trained in sword fights and Horse riding for some of the sequences. Infact, one of the reasons I was given an opportunity in Rudhramadevi, is no other actress can ride horse like me.
Tell us about your opportunity in Rudhramadevi and who introduced you to the Telugu cinema?
My father’s (Gagan Gupta) friend approached me about the opportunity. As I have already portrayed a character of Jhansi Lakshmi Bhai, Guna sir doesn’t even think twice to give me the role. Adding to that I was already trained in sword fights and horse riding. I was lucky to be part of the film, I hope I have done justice to the role.
